a message from the pastor

University Presbyterian Church welcomes you to visit us and join us in worship and extending service to our world. If you are looking for a perfect Christian community you will not find it here! In the spirit of full disclosure, we admit that we are an imperfect and flawed community that stands in need of God's grace -- in other words, God's love and forgiveness. Who we are is a gathering of people who are grateful for God's grace and who strive to follow the Way of Jesus in love, compassion, and justice.

Our Sunday congregation reflects a diverse gathering of worshipers: international students, people of different ages and economic backgrounds, various races and ethnicities, and diverse theological perspectives. Two traits I have observed in this congregation are the enthusiastic welcome given to visitors and the way members extend care to one another in times of need.

While not a large congregation, our members are engaged in a wide range of programs and ministries: a food pantry, a micro-grant program to regional youth, a ministry to homeless families, outreach to university students, a youth program, and financial as well as tangible support to a broad range of global and local charitable organizations.

Many people cite our music program -- the excellence of  our Minister of Music and the chancel choir, the contemplative music of the First Friday Taize services -- as a factor that first drew them to University Church and which continues to nurture their faith.

If you join us we hope you will discover the presence of God in and through us imperfect vessels as we seek to extend Christ's inclusive love.

                                                                                                                                              Peace,
                                                                                                                                            Tracy Daub
